Halloween 2011

Well  figured I better get my Halloween post up before it's Thanksgiving.

We had a really fun Halloween this year.  Zack is old enough to understand Trick or Treating and he even helped pick out his costume.  I love making the boys their Halloween costumes.  It will be a very sad day when they want the store bought stuff.  Yes I know it will be easier but the store bought costumes are so cheaply made... blah!  Oh well.

Zack wanted to be a Zombie.  How does he know what a Zombie is you ask?  I blame Disney Chanel.  Okay I don't blame them but I think he saw a episode of Shake it Up with some Zombies on it.  But when we were looking through Costumes.com to get an idea what he wanted to be he always chose the Zombies.  He even had me print them for him. Ughh.  I had huge moral issues with having my three year old son dress up as a Zombie.  All the costumes had blood and gore on them.  Eww, I know I'm such a Mom and a Girl!  So I convinced Zack to be Frankenstein.  Come on he's the ultimate Zombie!  Plus I found some really cute ideas on pinterest on how to make a Frankenstein hat.  Plus I like having the boys dress up as a theme and I figured if Zack was Frankenstein; Gavin could be Igor!

So Zack was Frankenstein

And Gavin was Igor

Our Halloween Activities:
Ward Halloween Carnival.  This year the Young Women were in charge which meant I was involved.  Zack had a good time, Gavin still wasn't 100% on board but he did get candy so that was a plus.  The Carnival was nice because it was on the Tuesday before Halloween so we didn't have to do Ward stuff then try to fit family stuff in as well.  It was also nice to change from the Trunk or Treat to just visiting a few rooms and playing games.   Yes less candy but more fun... right?  I hope people enjoyed it, I know it was a change but change is GOOD.
I didn't get any pictures because I was involved in the whole thing.  I'll try to find some pictures from anyone who had a camera.

Family Halloween Party.  Deanna hosted this year's Halloween party for our family.  It was fun!  We ate super yummy food.  Deanna totally was a rock star with the desserts.  Played a really fun Scavenger Hunt (even though it was suppose to be in the daylight but ended up being in the dark it was a blast).  And just hung out with family.  Which is really is truly the funnest part.

Our Family of Monsters

All The Waldo's.

Yummy Food

Gardner Village with Friends.  It's becoming a tradition to go to Gardner village with our neighborhood friends.  This year we went right before Halloween.  I had to work and others had things to do in the afternoon so we met at 10:00am.  It was nippy so we didn't dress up.  By Noon when we left it had definitely started warming up.  It was fun walking around looking at all the witches.  We have a fun group of friends, and I'm so glad that all our kids are close in age and get along so well.

And finally Halloween.  At 4:30 we visited Bob's parents at their house to show them the kids costumes.  About 5:15 we visited my Dad's to trick or treat and show off the costumes.  About 6ish we got home and ate Dinner.  About 6:30 Bob took the kids trick or treating.  About 7:30 we headed to my mom's house to show off costumes and trick or treat on her street.  About 8:30 we visited my Grandma to show off the costumes.  By the end of the night we were EXHAUSTED.  Sorry family but next year we may just stay home and trick or treat in our neighborhood.  If anyone wants to see the costumes they'll have to come visit or wait for pictures.  Love you all but dragging those two around was a lot of work.

Trick or Treating has begun!  Mom almost forgot the camera, had to run home to get that photo-op.

Pictures aren't in front of our house but as mentioned I forgot the camera and ran back home to get it.  So this the best I could do.  Love these little boys!

I love this picture of  Gavin because it truly shows his hump.  He's not looking at the camera but one picture that he actually looks like Igor... I'll take it!

So that was our Halloween.  It was a lot of FUN!

Oh and for future reference, Halloween weather was AMAZING!  Didn't even need a jacket.  I believe the weather was in high 50 degree's could have been in the 60's.  Temperatures quickly dropped and we had snow within a week.

Halloween

This year was Gavin's first Halloween and Zack's third Halloween. Zack is understanding the concept a little better. Well actually he knows that if he says Trick or Treat someone will give him candy. This year I made both of their costumes. They were both Skeletons. The costumes were fun to make but a lot more involved that I thought it would be. I spent many nights up until 1 or 2am working on costumes. Of course it didn't help that I am the worlds biggest procrastonator. But I did have them done 2 days before Halloween. Amazing right!

The fronts

And the back (taken a day earlier)

I also made my costume. Here is our family Halloween picture. Bob is Axel Rose (he says).

We had a fun Halloween. It started by visiting my Mom and Aunt Jolene about 4:00. Zack Trick or Treated, then we took pictures. We had our Trunk or Treat at 5:30 which ended up being inside the Church because of the rain. (That was interesting). Our luck the weather holds all day long then right when Trunk or Treating is to begin it rains. Luckily we were inside. There were kids coming through the line that were pretty wet. After Trunk or Treat our Ward had a Chili Dinner. We then went to visit Bob's parents at 7:00. Played there for a little bit then headed to my dad's. I feel bad because I told him the day before that we would visit at 4:30 but totally forgot that I told them a time. So we hung out at my dad's house for a little bit then headed home.

Bob, Zack and Gavin Trick or Treating.

All in all it was a pretty good Halloween. Zack and Gavin got a lot of candy and we've had to hide it!
Zack will say to me... Trick or Treat"? When I tell him the candy is gone, he'll find the bowl and say "There it is, I found it". Such a smart kid.

Oh What a Fright

I love halloween. I love decorating for it. I love wearing costumes. And this years I am super excited to celebrate it with my two boys. Zack has been practicing trick or treating all month. Not sure he understands the concept but I know once he gets that first bit of candy in his bag he'll be hooked. I started decorating a little late this year... but Zack was a big help. He especially loved his new friend:
I love this pictures because it's so Zack. He is such a ham. He would have played with this guy all day long if it hadn't broke. So all decorations are hands off from now on.
I also love dressing my kids for halloween. It's so exciting to celebrate Gavin's first Halloween!

I'm making the boys costumes this year so we'll see how they turn out. In my mind they are amazing. But not sure what it will end up being. And I'm kind of a matchy matchy type person so the boys will be dressed alike. I'll be dressed along the same theme. And Bob.... well he'll be wearing a mustache (that's all I could get him to agree too

Halloween 2009

Halloween started off with Zack and I carving a pumpkin. For Zack's first pumpkin carving experience he also wanted to taste what pumpkin was. He didn't seem to mind it too much. Mommy of course put a quick stop to eating raw pumpkin.
Zack instead "helped" clean the pumpkin out with a spoon.

I'm pretty proud of our Halloween costumes this year. I decided that our family would dress as the Rubbles from the Flintstone cartoon series. Bob was Barney, I was Betty and Zack was BamBam. Zack took his role as BamBam very serious and practiced for days before halloween. His toys and poor Abbie suffered a lot of practice. I've very proud of our costumes this year because normally I would bombard my poor mother to have her help me make my costume(s) but this year I pulled out a old sewing machine that was in our basement (that I thought didn't work) and sewed all our costumes. The part that I was most proud of was all of our costumes only took $15 to make! I was very resourceful. My costume I used a previous costume that either Bob or I had worn to a Murder Mystery Toga Party. I just cut it to make the betty costume. Zack's costume was easy because it was so small. And for the brown I was able to use the remnants from Bob's costume. Bob's costume I was going to buy fabric but it all would have costed me $5 per yard and I may have needed 2-3 yards. But while I was deciding I looked across the aisle at Walmart and saw a brown fleece blanket on sale for only $4.00. And it totally worked! I am proud of myself for making all of our costumes myself. I even figured out (mostly) how to sew fabric onto the bat for Zack club. This is definitly a milestone for me! But my mom isn't out of the woods yet, if there is every anything that needs a pattern to make I will definitly be knocking on her door. I am horrible at reading/understanding sewing patterns!
Every year our ward has a trunk or treat on Halloween. I'm not sure Zack really understood what was going on, but he's having fun eating his spoils from going car to car. Of course Mommy and Daddy are partaking as well.

After Trunk or Treating we went to Deanna's house to have our family party. It was a ton of fun. We brought our pumpkins to display on her doorstep. The neighbors/trick or treaters helped decide which pumpkin won the contest. I'm sure it was my mom's because let's be honest she's amazing. But in the end Deanna and Kelly gave me the prize for my canibal pumpkin. I didn't get any pictures because my camera battery died... boo. But I know that my sister and Arielle were able to get pictures so if I get any from them I'll post them here. We had fun at the party. We played games -- pumpkin bowling was the funnest! And of course we ate all the spooky treats.
My family always comes up great costumes!
And of course Baby #2 was part of all the fun. He even got his own costume...

Monkey'ing around

Happy Halloween. This post is a little bit late, but better late then never right... LOL.

Zack was a Monkey for Halloween.

(I think he thought if he pretended to be alseep I'd stop taking pictures of him)

I was a Witch

And Bob was Bob (scary!)

We had a lot of fun for Zack's first Halloween. We went to the ward Trunk or Treat. Where Bob took Zack to most of the cars for candy. Zack hadn't slept much that day so he was pretty tired and ornery. I just handed candy out at the car. But it was okay because I could watch Bob and Zack going around to the cars. Next year will be much more fun because Zack will hopefully be walking.

After Trunk or Treat we went to my mom's house where we entertained My mom, Gma, Gpa and Jo. Zack is great for entertaining. We also ate pizza and watched Halloween movies.
