Letter to our little one

Hello little one,

I feel you in my belly. You are a little mover and a kicker. I must say this is my favorite part of the pregnancy. It makes it seem so much more real and I can't wait to meet you. 2 more months. I hardly feel ready. But ready or not you will be coming. Already you have your own personality. I know what way I can lay on my side to make you kick but also which side will make you the most happy. You hate when I lay on my left side which is difficult for me. Normally I sleep on my right side so the fact that you like it better when I lay on my right side shouldn't be a problem. The only problem is most books and online resources say to lie on your left side because of better blood circulation and other things. So I try to give the best "blood circulation" but as I said before you have your preference, so who am I to argue with nature. You also sit very low in my pelvic bone. At night it feels like you are kicking me from inside my leg because you are sitting so low. And as I mentioned before you are quite the bouncer on my bladder. Every time I move or stand up I definitely feel you on my bladder. You also like to stretch as far as you can go because I'll feel one part of you in my hip bone and the other part at the top of my rib cage; it makes bending very difficult. But as I said before I love this feeling. You are real, and I love that!

You really start moving when I eat pretty much anything. But Orange Juice really gets you kicking. I hope all this moving and kicking isn't any indication as to your personality when you are born. We are hoping for a nice, calm, relaxing baby, and if you could cuddle with us that would be great too. Your older brother is not any of these things. But we will be happy with a healthy bouncy little boy.

I know with your birth your older brother is going to have a lot of adjusting to do. He will only be 19 months old. He won't quite understand who or where you came from. And I'm sure at some point he'll hope you go back. But he's going to love you as well. He'll be a great big brother and you guys will hopefully be bestest friends. Please forgive him if in his early age he hits you or is a little too rough. He's still learning and may not understand that you aren't as tough as him (yet).

We are anxiously awaiting your arrival; but please take your time (we want you fully "cooked") .

Love,
Your Mom

This and that

Today was yet another doctors appointment. I'm 37 Weeks along and dialated to a 1. No biggy. My cervix is still really thick. I was hoping for a different answer. I'm a very impatient person and I want to meet this baby now! The pregnancy is going fine, I haven't had any contractions. Walking is getting difficult especially when he's pressing on my pelvis. Sleeping is okay, I'm waking up almost every two hours to use the bathroom but that is normal and I'm sure preparing me for later when the baby is here. My doctor is going out of town from July 7th (our due date) to July 12th. He said that he will set up an induction (sp?) for July 14th -- which made me cry because I don't want to go a week over. I hope something (anything) progresses between now and July 7th because I know I'll be a baby once the July 7th mark passes.

I've also been off work for over a week now. I'm not sure how exactly I feel about it becuase I'm BORED! I try to clean but that's really slow going with how tired I am. I feel like everytime I pick something off the floor I have to sit and catch my breath for 10 minutes. I have managed to get the Nursery put mostly together and our room is clean. We are getting the carpets in the living room/dining room and hallways cleaned and hopefully our couch today so I will feel like some of my list is getting checked off. I feel like cleaning is what I need to do to make up for the fact that Bob is now the sole provider in our family. It only seems fair that he comes home to clean house and dinner being cooked. Not that he expects it, he's been so nice about making sure I take it easy and not working myself too hard.

Yesterday we went to the hospital to take a tour. It was interesting. Of course we were running a little late (love traffic and parking) and the women I set the tour up with said that we'd be in the second group (there was no second group). So we joined the tour late. But we got a quick private tour of what we'd missed (labor and delivery) so it all worked out. And my old roommate from Ogden and magazine selling days was there for the tour as well. It was so awesome to see Cat (Caroline). Her due date is July 10th so it would be so much fun if we delivered around the same day and was in the hospital the same time! She's having a little girl (her second child). It was so much fun to quickly catch up with her and meet her husband again (I haven't seen him since their wedding reception).

I've had two more showers (total of 3 so far) and we are so blessed by the love and support of our friends and family.

The first shower was given to us by our neighborhood friends. There is a post somewhere below this. They did a great job and I had a lot of fun.

The second shower was given to my by my work. This is a much smaller group so we didn't play any games. Just ate some delicious food (I wish I would have taken pictures of the food because it was so pretty) We had fruit kabobs, a yummy salad, rolls with honey butter and something else but I can't remember. It was light and oh so good. I only have pictures of me opening presents but I did take a after picture of all the loot that we got. My boss really spoiled us and got us the play pen which is going to be so helpful for visits.

This past weekend my sisters gave me a shower with Family and friends that we grew up with. It was so good to see everyone. Some of the people I haven't seen in 2 or 3 years so it was awesome catching up with everyone. My sisters did such a great job on the shower and put a lot of work into it. They decorated the bowls with baby diapers and they made the cutest sock bouquet. The fruit bowl looked like a baby carriage (again I didn't get pictures of any of the yummy food!) and baby clothes were hung between the canapies. It was so cute!
See all the baby clothes - what a cute idea!

And again I was just spoiled. We got so many clothes our baby is going to be the best dressed! I'm going to have so much fun changing his clothes! So here are more pictures of what we've recieved. I think we are all hooked up. All we need to buy is a stroller and carseat and we are set.

(more blankets - but I don't think we can have enough of them)

The clothes! (look at the sock bouquet it's near the green and red hat at the bottom of the picture)

And everything else.

I just want to thank everyone for all the tips, suggestions and gifts that we have recieved. We are truley blessed to be surrounded by such loving encouraging people. I know that our little baby is so lucky to have such good people excited and waiting for him.

We still have one more shower in the works, but I think it's going to be a meet the baby shower for all of Bob's mom's friends and neighbors.

Only 4 weeks to go

In just a few days we will only have four weeks left till our little guy gets here. It's nerve racking not knowing when to expect it to happen. Will he get here a week early or will he be a week late? It's exciting and scary all at the same time.

It's also time we start thinking about packing and getting ready for the hospital. I don't want to seem to anxious but we should be prepared, just in case. But what to bring? I've read a lot of the baby sites so I have an idea of what we should bring. But I would like the real mom's to tell me what they used in the hospital and things that they brought that they really didn't need. Any tips would be helpful so anyone that reads this blog that has had a baby let's hear your suggestions. And if you haven't had a baby what do you think I'll need? Any tips would be helpful because at this point I still feel clueless.
