27 Weeks -- time is flying!

Since finding out that Bob and I were expecting another little one we have had 3 ultra sounds. Here is a look at how our little guy is growing.

9 Weeks -- I was worried that I was having an ectopic pregnancy because of a pain on one side. Everything was fine, and wouldn't you know it after the ultrasound the pain stopped.
At 15 weeks we had our first doctor appointment with the new doctor. She had just gotten a new ultrasound machine and was trying it out. And since she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat we got free picture of the ultrasound.
At 20 weeks we did the scheduled measuring of the baby and at that time found out that we were having another little boy. It took a lot longer to find out exactly what we were having because the little guy wouldn't cooperate and he just kept his legs stretched out so he was hiding the jewels. But after a lot of shaking the technician was able to say for sure that we were having another boy.

At 25 weeks our doctor asked if we could do another ultrasound because at the 20 week ultrasound the baby was laying in a way that they couldn't get a good look of the spine. I also had them recheck the sex of the baby. This little guy just didn't want to cooperate at all. He was laying so his bum was down and his spine was completely hidden. But after a lot of shaking he finally flipped so his head was in my backbone and his bum was pressed towards my stomach. He's quite the contortionist. But again we got definite confirmation that we were expecting a little guy.
We are very excited. And I feel horrible that I don't talk about the pregnancy as much as I did with Zack. But this pregnancy has been going so well that there isn't much to talk about. I only had a little morning sickness towards the beginning and then nothing. I started feeling his kicks shortly after the ultrasound. And Bob was able to feel him kick for the first time when we were in Wyoming for the BYU/Wyoming game. He's hanging out a lot lower then Zack was. I feel a lot of his kicks in my hip bone. I'm also get kicked in the bladder a lot. Which if you've never had children before it's such a weird feeling to be going about your day and be kicked in the bladder from the inside.

As for names we've got a few names on our list. I have a hard time committing to just one right now because I want to meet the little guy first before it's final. The middle name has been the hardest for us to figure out. I like the idea of using a family name for the middle name. With Zack he was given the middle name LaCon which is also Bob's middle name as well as his Grandfather's middle name. I wanted to give this baby a middle name from my side of the family which has proven to be very difficult! My mom's dad's middle name is Lavon which he hates. I actually really like it, but he wouldn't even pass his middle name onto his only son, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like it if I passed the name on. My dad's dad's middle name is Asale (sp?) which isn't a bad middle name but I can just picture some teasing if anyone found out that middle name. My dad's middle name is also the first name of my brother and I feel that it's his responsibility to pass that along if he wanted to. Which leaves us either the first name of my grandfathers or going into the next generation of grandparents. We'll figure something out though.

Zack and the new baby will share a room so we haven't had too much to do to get the room ready. The baby will stay in our room for the first few months which gives us at least 6 more months to figure out sleeping arrangements. We may get a new crib for the baby just because we aren't sure that Zack is ready for his own bed yet. But again we have some time. The new baby will also be given most of Zack's hand me downs so that makes it a lot easier. Of course we'll have to get some things like long sleeved onesies and some weather appropriate clothes. But for the most part we are all set.

It's going to be crazy having two kids under the age of two! I hope we are ready for this....

Submit your guesses

Will Zack have a little brother or a little sister?

Monday we will hopefully be finding out what we are having (cross your fingers the baby isn't shy). So if anyone is interested please submit your guesss to the poll in the sidebar. I'm guessing that it's annonymous poll but please pick one. But if you want to leave a comment with your guess you can do that too!

It will be interesting to see what we are having.

Bob thinks Boy and I'm leaning more towards Girl.
But honestly we have no idea!
Updated: I've deleted the poll that was in the post because I was having a hard time viewing the results. The poll is now on the sidebar at the very top. Please vote!

Ramblings of a pregnant women who should be in bed....

Already this pregnancy has been a lot different then with Zack.

With Zack:
I didn't start feeling sick until the 2nd trimester and then I was sick every night and sometimes in the afternoon.
I felt like by this time with Zack I had already had three or four dr. appointments.
The doctor actually measured my belly.
We had heard the heartbeat a few times.
I took tons of weekly pictures.

With this pregnancy:
I felt sick pretty early, but was able to contain it. I've only been physically sick a few times.
This week will be my third dr. appointment.
We still haven't heard the heartbeat (cross your fingers they actually find it this time!).
I'm afraid to take pictures of myself because I know I'm WAY bigger then I was before.

I'm not sure if I'm having some sort of depression about this pregnancy. I'm very excited for the new addition to our family. But I think with Zack we were much more prepared. It was planned. I was working full time so we were able to buy everything and then some for Zack. With this pregnancy I'm only working part time and I feel like we are barely making ends meet with mortgage, car payment and day care. It's been very hard for me to think about what we may need to buy for this new little one. Let alone how I'm going to take any time off work. I'm not sure Zack is ready for a toddler bed so we'll probably end up buying a new crib. I also don't think we'll be able to fit two cribs in Zack's room so we are trying to finish the basement with any money that we can, so the new baby can have the computer/scrapbook room upstairs. Which means we'll need to decorate the new baby's room. I know that things will work out... they always do. But I'm a worrier and I think about things way to much.

This is a dumb post, but it's just something that I'm feeling... I guess. It's also midnight so I'll probably delete the post in the morning.

But just to clarify... I am very excited for this baby. I know it's going to completely change the dynamics of our already small family. It's something that we wanted and I'm glad that it happened on it's own. I know that this baby is going to be a blessing for our family and we will do what we need to do to make things work.

Moving on

Update: Photos added!

If your reading this post and there aren't any pictures I'll try to update it soon. I was just tired of seeing the prego stick and wanted to update ASAP.

I've been meaning to update this blog for a while now. But to be honest I have NO time. Zack likes to be near me at all times. If I'm on the computer he's right there beside me. Usually getting in to my scrapbook stuff, pulling on computer cords or climbing on something.

This isn't a very good pictures but shows that Zack is trying to climb onto the couch. My foot is there to help "boost" him.

Zack has become quite the little climber lately. He can mostly get on the couch by himself now, every once in a while he'll need a little boost. He has no problem climbing on our glass coffee table. That is a big problem seems how we put the table away at one point because one of the legs broke. We "mostly" fixed the leg, so we are still a little nervous about it's unstability. He'll also use toys to help himself up onto a side table that we have between the couch and chair. He's also mastered climbing from the lovesac to the chair that is next to it. It's pretty funny. He flings himself over the armrest and lands on the cushion. He'll even go into our room and get a laundry basket and drag it into the front room to stand on. He gets up on top and he's so proud of himself!

This picture is of Zack going from the Lovesac to the Loveseat. I wanted to post a video but it's not working, so this is all you get.

Zack has also started a shoe fetish. He loves giving people their shoes. This has become a problem because we are constantly missing one shoe. He also loves to wear shoes. He'll bring me one of his shoe, plop himself into my lap and lift up his foot. I'll put the shoe on him and he'll be happy. Most of the time he'll just have the ONE shoe on. it's really funny. And he'll walk around for as long as I let him with only the one shoe. And if I try to take it off he gets very angry! We've tried to hide a lot of his shoes so we don't have the above mentioned problem with missing shoes. We are still missing one of his sandals. Either he's thrown it away or it's hidden somewhere.

We've finally trained Zack to throw garbage away. It's so cute. He'll eat a fruit snack and when he's finished we'll tell him to throw the wrapper in the garbage. He'll do just that! But if there is any chance that he can get it back out he will. I've also seen him pick up random garbage and thrown it away! I love my little helper, if only I could get him to put away his toys! He loves to pull things out of the garbage and give it to us. He's our little garbage man. I have caught him a few times throwing his balls in the garbage along with other toys. I'm sure a few of his stuff (and maybe ours) have made it to the landfill. Zack has also figured out how to open the toilet seat. We've caught him a few times playing in the water. He's also thrown my slipper into the toilet at one point... not cool! He's such a troublemaker, but we love him!

As for the pregnancy everything is going fine. Currently I am 17 weeks along. I feel fine other then being tired alot. Normally in your second trimester you start getting your energy back, but I haven't. I'm sure alot of it has to do with the fact that I don't sleep very well (thanks abbie!) and 3 days a week I have to get up earlier then I'd like to be awake. We had a fun ER visit because I was having pains in my chest and the doctor thought it may be a gallbladder problem. It wasn't an emergency my doctor just told me to go to the ER because they would be able to get the test results quicker. Thanks for that, now I have to pay an ER bill and waste 4 hours of my life! Everything ended up being fine, they think it was just reflux. Which in my opinion is a "I don't know what is wrong with you" diagnose. I've felt fine since then and haven't had to take any prescriptions... (knock on wood).

We should find out what we are having on October 12th. I am excited. It's hard to tell what we may have. This pregnancy has been very different then with Zack. With Zack I started getting sick right at my second trimester and pretty much couldn't eat or think about dinner at all! With this pregnancy I started feeling sick earlier on, but was able to contain it with eating every few hours. I really haven't had too much morning sickness, which has been nice. Bob thinks we are having a boy. But I'm leaning towards a girl. We'll be happy with either one. Deanna is convinced we are having a boy because we did the wedding ring thing a while ago and it said I was going to have 2 boys. It will be interesting to see the outcome. My Aunt and Grandma (and I'm sure my mom) would like to have a granddaughter. If we could pull it off, this would be the first grand daughter for my mom and the first great grand daughter for my grandma. I've already broke tradition by getting pregnant a second time, we'll see if I can break it again by having a girl! But like I said I'd be happy with either.

I'm also fighting not to wear my maternity clothes yet. I don't know why, I guess I'm worried about gaining so much weight again. My pants are starting to not fit but thanks to the bellaband I can still wear my pre-pregnancy clothes. My shirts on the other hand are starting to not fit properly. I may have to cave and just pull out the maternity stuff. It's so funny because when I got pregnant with Zack I couldn't wait to wear maternity and now I'm the opposite.

So that is the update as of right now. I'm sure I've missed a few things but that's what preggo brain does.

The official announcement

Well it's about time I officially announce that Bob and I are expecting Baby #2.

Yup, that's right I took two pregnancy tests. I just couldn't believe that it was actually true. After trying to get pregnant with Zack for almost 5 years and having the fertility doctor give us a 1 to 2% chance of ever conceiving on our own, I couldn't believe it! We weren't preventing it, but we definitely weren't planning it either. Bob had actually been saying that when Zack is out of diapers we could go back to the fertility clinic and try again. So imagine our surprise!

It really is a unexpected blessing for us. We are a little nervous to have two kids under the age of two. My due date is February 28, 2010. Which will put the kids almost 20 months apart. So I guess it isn't too bad. I'm also worried about how financially we are going to be able to handle things. But I'm sure we'll make it happen one way or another.

This pregnancy hasn't come without a little bit of drama so far:

The indication that I was pregnant was my appetite skyrocketed. I actually told one of my friends that I didn't think I was eating enough because I was always hungry! Too bad that didn't turn on any light bulbs. The reason I decided to take the pregnancy test was because I started feeling sick if I didn't eat regularly (like every couple hours). This never happened to me with Zack until I was in my second trimester so it came really early this time.

Once the pregnancy was confirmed I called the doctor to set up my appointment. Only to find out that my OB/GYN had retired. Thanks for the update! I mean really aren't they suppose to send a letter or something? So I made the appointment with the doctor who actually delivered Zack (my dr was on vacation at the time).

Then the week before we were to leave for Canada I was having cramps on my left side. I was worried it was an ectopic pregnancy and didn't want to be in another country if anything was to happen. So I called the dr's office and scheduled an ultrasound. They were also going to try to figure out how far along I was, since I didn't know. Obviously the good news was the baby was in the uterus and everything looked okay.

Finally it was time for my first appointment. Bob was out of town doing training, so I got to go by myself. The doctor acted really weird. The first thing he said to me when he came into the office was "have we met?" And he was really close to my face when he said it. It was a little creepy. When I told him that he delivered my baby he acted weird about it too. I don't know if he was trying to be funny or what but he just creeped me out. He tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't. But said that since the ultrasound was okay they were just going to go with that. Then at the end of the appointment he looked at my chart, stated how much I weighed when I delivered Zack and said that was probably why he didn't recognize me because I gained so much weight. Not really the right thing to say to already emotional pregnant person. Needless to say I've switched doctors. I'm going to try one of the new doctors to the practice and see how that goes. The only problem with switching is I had to get "permission" from the doctor that offended me. If this doctor doesn't work out I'll be switching practices, which makes me sad because I like the practice. But I have to have a doctor that I'm comfortable with!

So that's that, I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I can't wait to find out what we are having! Zack is going to make an awesome big brother. We will have to work really hard to teach him to be soft. Right now he's all boy and likes to play really hard, which also involves hitting unfortunetly.

Today marks 40 weeks

Today is our due date.

It's exciting that it's finally here, but frustrating that NOTHING is happening.

Friday afternoon we tried one of Tiffany's suggestion of eating a pizza that has put other women into labor. The pizza was really good, but didn't really do much in putting me into labor. I'm scared to do the castrol oil because knowing my luck all it would do is give me the runs... LOL.

Sleeping has become harder and harder for me as well.
  • I can't find a comfortable position to sleep.
  • Get out of bed makes me feel like a turtle on it's back; because I do a lot of swing my arms and legs to roll over and get out of bed. Poor Abbie has started sleeping on the couch because I'm sure I've kicked him more times then I'd like to rememeber.
  • Most of my dreams revolve around my water breaking and getting to the hospital ASAP. So everytime I wake up I'm checking my bed for water (just in case).

It's getting scary for me. Any day know we'll be having our baby! Yikes! Bob was hoping we'd have the baby this weekend then he'd have a 10 day week vacation from work. But no luck. If he has to travel futher then the Salt Lake Valley he calls to see how I'm feeling to make sure I won't go into labor while he's out of the valley. I know he's starting to be a nervous wreck as well. He just wants everything to go smoothly.

And if for some reason we end up going until the 14th and have to be induced, I'm sure neither of us will get much sleep the night before.

I'll try to take a picture this week of my 40 week belly. But I'm sure it's no different then the 38 or 39 week picture. This is one that I had done for my 39 week picture. I probably shouldn't have worn black but oh well.

I'm sure I'll keep everyone updated this week on what's going on. And hopefully we'll be able to post pictures from the hospital. I'll have to convice one of my family members to bring their laptop since we don't have one. So everyone say a little prayer that we'll have this little guy sooner then later.

Bedrest

Thursday was yet another appointment. I'm still dialated to a 1 and my cervix is still thick (no change there). The only change is my blood pressure was 140/87 and 140/90 is bad. So my doctor has put me on bedrest until Monday when I will have another appointment to check my B.P. The bedrest sucks but I know it's necessary. Plus my feet, legs, arms and hands have been really itchy and the only way to make them stop itching is by laying down so I guess the bedrest came at a good time.

I'm wanting to have this baby asap but I don't want anything bad to happen to me or the baby so I'm really nervous about the blood pressure. I'm sure it's nothing to be too worried about especially so close to my due date, just my body trying to get ready for delivery.

But I am doing what the doctor ordered and just taking it easy.

Updates

It's been a while since my last post and I'm definitely lacking on taking picture of my growing belly. I always seem to find an excuse not to take my own picture.
  • My feet are swelling and the mornings are the hardest on them. My doctor isn't too concerned so I'm trying not to be. I do try to keep them up as much as possible which is hard with my job sitting at a desk.
  • My back hurts a lot and I just can't sit still for very long. But I'm okay with that, it keeps me off the couch so I have to be moving around.
  • Yesterday I started organizing and moving the scrapbook/computer room again. Well Bob moved I just directed. If I rearrange then I find things to throw away so this is definitely a good thing. Next I need to get the baby room organized. It's such a mess right now.
  • Everything else is pretty good. I can't believe that in two months we are going to be parents! It's so hard to imagine.
  • I've been having dreams about babies lately. It's so funny. Sometimes in the dreams I'm having babies for other people or just taking care of someone elses kid. I don't think I've quite grasped that once we bring this little guy home, he's here to stay! LOL.

I think that's it. Not much is really going on. I start my 2 week appointments with the doctor tomorrow. Soon we'll be to the weekly appointments! I did find out that my doctor will be going out of town July 7th-12th (our due date) so he'll be checking my cervix the week or two before to see if we might be able to start early. Otherwise we'll just have to wait and see and if he's out of town we'll have to have the on call doctor deliver the baby (yikes!). Or worse case scenario if we still haven't had the baby by the 12th then he'll be back from vacation. I'm not sure how I feel about going over -- but I guess it's possible.

Picture update

This post is about 2 weeks late. But I'm such a procrastinator. I kept telling myself I'd take the picture tomorrow and tomorrow just kept getting further and further away. The picture isn't the best and the lighting pretty much sucks, but this will have to do.

Things are going great. We bought the crib and dresser at a liquidator sale. We (meaning Bob) have starting working on painting the nursery. My feet hurt if I walk too much and my back is definitely sore. But it's so worth it! I still keep telling myself that I'll start going to the gym but again with the procrastinating. Oh well.

I had another doctors appointment last Thursday. I had to do the Glucose test. Got the results today and everything is normal -- No Gestational Diabetes. I'm measuring right on schedule so that is encouraging. The only bad part of the appointment is my weight! Can you tell I've gained quite a bit! It's embarrassing to talk about, but since this is my journal about the pregnancy I need to at least document it. I've gain 27 lbs since my first appt. It's more then I probably should, especially with 3 months left. So I defiantly need to get to the gym and work out! I did get a swimsuit today so I'm hoping to get signed up for a Maternity Water Aerobics class. If I'm signed up for an actual class I will make it. It's just so hard to go by myself to the gym!

Baby bumps

This last weekend was the first time that Bob has been able to feel the baby kick. I've been feeling him for a while now, but everytime I feel the kicks and convice Bob to come to where I am the baby stops. He's already very stubborn that way. But last Friday as we were laying in bed I pulled Bob's hand to my tummy and he felt the little kicks. I was so happy that our little man had finally let his Daddy feel his kicks. Then Saturday Morning we were watching TV and I grabbed Bob's hand and put it on my tummy again and the Baby kicked so hard! I was proud! I love that Bob is now able to feel the little guy inside of me. I hope it makes it more real for him. I love his little kicks. I know everyone says to wait until he's bigger and kicking harder, but I love it. I love that when I'm laying in bed I feel the little bumps inside me. I don't even mind when he's bouncing on my bladder. It's a feeling I never thought I'd experience and if I could make it last forever I would!

24/25 week pictures to come soon... I promise
